The trio Metamorphoses wil be playing Loevendie's "Metamorph" at the Yunus Emre Institute, Amsterdam. The concert starts at 19:00 hrs.
Launch of two books and CD at Orgelpark, Amsterdam

Loevendie Triple Package will be launched during a concert at the Orgelpark. In the year that Theo turned ninety this triptych was produced:
-The album 'Grounds' which, in addition to the 5 compositions in Passacaglia style, contains about six more of Theo's compositions, all played by Theo Loevendie & The Wellingtonians
-A book about Loevendie's compositional techniques, shaped by a Q&A with Loevendie by Gerard van Wolferen
-The Loeboek, the 'Loevendie Real Book', a book with the lead sheets (scores) of 40 of Theo's jazz compositions.
The three items together will be available as a bundle after the concert; a must-have for the Loevendie fan. Please note: limited edition.
In the concert, compositions from the Loeboek and the album will be played. As well as a part arranged for the Dudok String Quartet and two parts of the string quartet for which Theo is still writing.
And of course Theo will also play one of the beautiful organs in the Orgelpark.

KCO Performs Flexio

December 3th and 4th 2020 the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will perform Loevendie’s orchestral work Flexio (1980) written for the KCO.
It is the first time that the KCO performs Flexio after the premiere in 1980. In the mean time the work was performed by other orchestras.
A few years later in 1984, Loevendie received the American Koussevitzky International Record Award in a Residentie Orkest performance of Flexio conducted by Peter Eötvös. The upcoming KCO performances will be led by the dutch conductor Antony Hermus.

The New Ensemble

Sad news about the Amsterdam-based New Ensemble. Founded by Joel Bons in 1982 inspired by and starting their vast repertoire with the Instrumentation of Theo Loevendie’s Venus and Adonis with it’s nucleous of mandoline and guitar. The final concert took place in Amsterdam's Muziekgebouw on Tuesday 5 december 2019 with works by a.o. Donatoni, Carter and Boulez, composed for this group. According to the daily newspaper TROUW Loevendie’s Bons for improvising soloist and ensemble just as Venus and Adonis, published by Peermusic, Hamburg was one of the highlights of the program.
New "Strings Project"

Although the release date is not yet set as is the title of this album, it wil be released this year. The Wellingtonians are doing their so-called Passacaglia-Tour in the Netherlands at the moment. Concert at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam

On Saturday April 20, a concert will take place in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Dedicated to music composed by Theo Loevendie.
Special attention will go to the influence of Turkish Folk Music on his output as a composer of chamber music and his acitivities in the field of jazz.
A fine selection of musicians will perform his chamber music and Loevendie’s jazz ensemble The Wellingtonians will do the same with special focus on Loevendie’s recent output as a composer being inspired by Passacaglia’s such as they appeared in the European tradition from the 13th century until today, being improvisations on a bass obstinate originally but in later centuries composed by composers such as Lully, Purcell, Rameau, Bach, Brahms and Britten.
Passacaglia Project

In 2020 Loevendie’s Passacaglia Project will be performed in a tour starting with the Orgelpark in Amsterdam.
The famous female vocal quintet Wishful Singing is planned to be part of the project in which improvising musicians will take part.

Johnny & Jones

The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra commissioned an orchestral work by Loevendie to be premiered in the "Matinee op de Vrije Zaterdag" in the
Amsterdam Concertgebouw on february 20, 2020. Only six days later the work will have it's US premiere in Minneapolis by the Minnesota Orchestra

Autobiography

Spring 2018 the Memoires of Theo Loevendie will be published by Prometheus, Amsterdam, containing his childhood in a poor neighbourhood in Amsterdam, including the misery of World War 2 and his late start to study composition and clarinet at the Amsterdam Conservatory after having developed a reputation as a composer and saxophonist in the field of jazz.

Autumn 2017 a cd will appear with Loevendie’s Nachklang for Recorder Solo, String Orchestra and Harpsichord. Holland Baroque performs the orchestral part, the soloist is Erik Bosgraaf. Bosgraaf also takes part in Dance for Three, for Violin, Clarinet & Recorder together with rising star Dutch-American violinist Diamanda Dramm and German clarinettist Carl Rosman. Bosgraaf also performs Loevendie’s soprano-recorder solo Reflex.
The Rise of Spinoza

Loevendie’s opera The Rise of Spinoza (2014) will be launched by the label Attacca in the course of Autumn 2017. Soloists are 4 singers and recorder player Erik Bosgraaf; the Groot Omroepkoor(Choir of the radio) and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Markus Stenz. It will be combined with a DVD about the making of this opera in a documentary film by Marieke Rodenburg
